Russell’s introduction
Russell Lorfing, managing partner at Keith & Lorfing

A federal case starts
long before trial.

Russell’s experience as an Assistant United States Attorney gave him a close view of how federal cases develop: the records agents collect, the witnesses they interview, and the decisions prosecutors make before filing charges.

He now brings that experience to the defense side. His work includes criminal cases and complex federal matters for individuals and corporations across the country, with particular experience in financial investigations and electronic evidence.

Experience behind the defense.

Federal prosecution

Before entering private practice, Russell served as a federal prosecutor and led a human trafficking task force on Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. He has served as lead counsel in dozens of complex jury trials.

Financial investigations

His investigative work has received recognition from the IRS, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security. That background informs his review of transactions, records, and the government’s explanation of what they mean.

Electronic evidence

In 2017, the U.S. Attorney’s Office designated Russell a Cyber Hacking and Intellectual Property Prosecutor. His work included district-wide cyber investigations and issues involving the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.

United States v. Martin

In case 1:22-CR-071-H, Russell represented an elected official accused of public corruption. The defense challenged the sufficiency of the evidence, and the case was dismissed in the interest of justice.
